Angel Tree: A gift for a young girl

I am most fortunate to work for a company that gives back to our global communities.  We have an "Angel Tree" in our break room and the ornaments are paper tags with a child's name and the items that he or she would like to receive for Christmas.  The gifts will go to an orphanage in Mexico.

I selected a 16 year old girl and she requested a pair of pants, a shirt, and shoes.  Although I don't have any children, I had the best time shopping for these items.  I really like the distressed jeans, the top is colorful, and the Converse sneakers are pretty cool.

Also, this whole gift giving exercise gave me the idea for turning a shopping bag into a holiday gift bag.  I got home from Target and realized that I had no holiday gift bags so I decorated a shopping bag.

To me, Christmas is for children.  As mentioned, I don't have children so this was an opportunity for me to participate in meaningful gift giving.  If you have the opportunity to buy a toy for a toy drive, I hope you'll chip in and buy a toy.  You will make a child smile on Christmas day.

Cheers,
Monica

  3. This is a really lovely idea, especially knowing what the child would like and being able to pick something they'd like.
I've been involved with Operation Christmas Child this year, packing shoe boxes full of toys and gifts for children throughout the world, I really enjoyed it and wrote about it here

  6. We always try to participate in any type of toy drive that our company partners with. This year, I let my son pick out a toy for a child and he dropped it off at one of the holiday events we attended. I agree it's important to share with others during this time of the year. Merry Christmas Monica!

That's so wonderful that you involve your son. It must have been fun for him to pick out a toy for another child :-)
